Big Volume Trouble.

ODNR Report: PRELIMINARY REPORT ON THE NORTHSTAR 1 CLASS II INJECTION WELL AND THE SEISMIC EVENTS IN THE YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO, AREA

In Conclusion: To induce an earthquake, the following conditions must be met: 1. A fault must already exist within the crystalline basement rock; (condition met)
2. That fault must already be in a near-failure state of stress; (condition met)
3. An injection well must be drilled deep enough and near enough to the fault and have a path of communication to the fault; (condition met) and
4. The injection well must inject a sufficient quantity of fluids at a high enough pressure and for an adequate period of time to cause failure, or movement, along that fault (or system of faults).
ALL 4 Conditions Met!
ODNR Well Permit

This well is permitted to inject 3,500 barrels per day!
That is 16 large, 9,000 gallon tanker trucks every day!
At Max Injection Pressure of 1,890 psi.

They will pump, make big money, until a problem makes them stop.

Those problems are always big.

Then, it will become OUR big problem.

According to the USGS report on induced seismicity, (a good read)

“ Induced seismicity can occur at significant distances from injection wells and at different depths.”
“Seismicity can be induced at distances of 10 miles or more away from the injection point and at significantly greater depths than the injection point”. 

Problem: The new Northstar-Collins injection well in Coitsville is only 7.35 miles away from the Youngstown Northstar-1 injection well that caused the 4.0 earthquake and 88 others!

Does ODNR ignore the advise of USGS?
YES!

Seriously, does ODNR ignore their own advise?
YES!  

What if the toxic frack waste injected in Coitsville COMMUNICATED to the fault of the Northstar1  injection well in Youngstown.

How do we know that it hasn't already?

Northstar1 last caused a 4.0 magnitude earthquake.

According to ODNR, Induced seismicity increases in magnitude.  What is next for Northstar1?  A 4.1?
Can Meander Dam take another earthquake TWICE as powerful as the 4.0 quake that materialized $24 million in damages. 

Northstar-Collins injection well may prove to be just as  harmful to Meander Dam as the AWMS injection well less than 3 miles from it.
